English Settlement features the singles "Senses Working Overtime," which reached No. 10 on the UK Singles Chart, and "No Thugs in Our House." It marked a stylistic shift for XTC as they moved toward more pastoral and complex arrangements, and was their last album recorded with drummer Terry Chambers before his departure.
